The recent settlement with the Crown provides immense and exciting opportunities for us as Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō to develop and strengthen as an iwi. The purpose of this long-term plan is to establish a strategic framework; “Te Whare o Apa ki te Rā Tō”, that takes stock of where we are at, makes some suggestions for where we could go, and defines some pathways to get there.

In so doing, we are conscious of ensuring we acknowledge and give best expression to our history and values, as well as to the struggles of our tipuna who brought us to this point. We also want to make sure we celebrate and draw inspiration from our triumphs. We have been reflecting on all this as we start to define our aspirations and set a pathway forward.

We cannot do this alone. In the early stages of this journey our focus is on ensuring that our vision for Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō reflects your needs, aspira-tions, and personal visions, and that we have you in the waka alongside us.

We hope that the direction outlined in this plan resonates with you, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō Trustees.
