Education & Training
Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō are proud to support our students in their Tertiary and Trade futures. Here is a profile from one of this years recipients.
Ko Lucy Sanson taku ingoa.
I recently completed my last year at Palmerston North Girls High School (PNGHS) as a year 13 student. Previously I was a student at a small rural school (Kopane) with a roll of 46 students.
I come from a large rural family of seven in the Manawatū. My brother is a commercial beekeeper and one of my sisters is a resource and environmental consultant. Another is currently a student at Auckland University and my youngest sister is still at Palmerston North Girls High School.
I have a wide variety of interests and sporting activities that I am involved in such as dance, canoe polo and hockey. I also work as a beekeeper doing all aspects of hive management. I enjoy being busy and experiencing new and interesting activities.
I am enrolled in Massey University’s Bachelor of Resource and Environmental Planning minoring in Ecology, Soil and Earth Science. In the future I plan to have the skills to create change in the resource management space and to help Māori be true Kaitiaki of our whenua to ensure it is protected for our mokopuna.
Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō will be represented on the first day of school for two more tamariki who are about to begin their education journey.
We look forward to many more tamariki in 2018 receiving their education packs including stationery, pens & pencils and also a water bottle kindly sponsor provided by Estel Water www.estel.nz.
Be sure to send us those photos whānau, of your tamariki wearing their packs with pride on their first day at school!
