Tuna harvest

Tuna harvest

As we start to feel spring on the doorstep, it’s time to prepare for the iwi’s annual customary tuna harvest to Rotoroa in the Nelson Lakes. Each year, we take a wānanga to the lake to practice the tikanga of harvesting tuna in preparation for the Hui-a-Tau. This year, the harvest will take place on Saturday, September 14, returning to Blenheim on Sunday, September 15. It is open is all iwi members and is a great way to learn more about our Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tōtanga.

If you would like to join the customary harvest, please give us a call at the office on 0800 578 900 or email office@ngatiapakiterato.iwi.nz to register. You can also contact us through our Facebook page. Please note that registrations close on Friday, September 6.
