She’s a busy mum and a passionate educator – meet one of our latest Education Grant recipients, iwi member Patreece Douglas.
Kia ora e te whānau,
My name is Patreece Douglas and I am a solo mother of four amazing children. I belong to Felicia Douglas (nee) Morris and she belongs to Jack Morris from Maketu. I am proud of my Morehu whānau.
I was in shock to find out that I had been given a grant to go towards my fees for my He Korowai Akonga Primary Teaching Degree from my whānau at Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō to help me succeed in achieving my dreams.
I have chosen this field of study as I have always wanted to become a primary school teacher, to help our young Māori children know that they can have dreams and that they can pursue them and succeed them with greatness. I know that I have what it takes to finish this degree and also gain good marks as I am very passionate about becoming a teacher and helping tamariki fulfil their destiny in whatever path of career they chose in their life.
Ngā mihi
Patreece Douglas
