Tupaia exhibition
Posted on 07 December 2020
Cultural advisor Kiley Nepia and daughter Mareikura, pictured below, were up at dawn to represent Kurahaupō at the opening of the Tupaia: Voyage to Aotearoa exhibition at Nelson Provincial Museum.
Mātua Hamuera Robb (Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, Rangitāne, Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Toa, Ngāi Tahu), pictured left, is Kaitiaki Taonga Māori at the museum and worked with the developers to capture the Kurahaupō tribes’ own narratives of their interactions with Tupaia and James Cook.
The exhibition is free and runs until the end of May 2021. If you are in Whakatū, be sure to drop in.
